Now that’s how you do a season finale.
The first season of MTV’s Teen Wolf came to a close on Monday night, and after we finished scrapping the remnants of our jaws off the floor, we were left with a lot of questions. Is Derek (Tyler Hoechlin) replacing Peter (RIP… kind of!) as the new Big Bad? Will Derek turn Jackson (Colton Haynes) into a werewolf? What the hell is Lydia (Holland Roden) now? Will Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) remain awesome? We need answers, people!
Lucky for us, the show’s creator and executive producer Jeff Davis was more than willing to give up some scoop…
The New HWIC: That’s right, Derek will be Head Wolf in Charge when Teen Wolf returns in 2012, a role he’d been working to attain all season. “We had been building to it for a long time. Derek just had his eye on the prize the whole time, which was becoming the Alpha himself,” Jeff says. “It’s our version of The Godfather essentially. He’s become the Godfather. It’s like, what happens to him now? Is he going to use his power for good or evil?”
While he wouldn’t say if Derek will be next season’s Big Bad, Jeff did tell us fans will see Derek recruiting new pack members. “There will be new werewolves rounding out Derek’s pack because the stronger his pack, the stronger Derek becomes, the faster he’ll be able to heal. The stronger your pack, the closer you get to being able to transform into a full wolf,” he explains. “Our werewolves become stronger with a strong pack. They feed off each other’s power, they become more powerful together.”
One of season two’s biggest questions? “Whether or not Scott (Tyler Posey) will join him.” Dun-dun-dun!
Teen Wolf, MTV’s twist on the werewolf tale, finished its season with a howl among Nielsen viewers. The show wrapped its rookie run, averaging a series’ high 2.1 million viewers on Aug. 15, according to Nielsen live + same-day data. It also pulled in a series best 1.9 rating among MTV’s broad 12-to-34 demo. The finale was No. 1 in its timeslot with teens and females 12 to 34.
The first season of Teen Wolf averaged a 1.5 among the 12-to-34 set, more than doubling its time period average from a year ago, with more than 1.7 million viewers tuning in each week. MTV’s two most recent entries in the scripted genre, Awkward and Teen Wolf, are the network’s highest-rated new series since 2009. Set for a 12-installment return next year, Teen Wolf stars Tyler Posey as Scott McCall; Crystal Reed as Allison Argent; Dylan O’Brien as Stiles; Tyler Hoechlin as Derek Hale; Holland Roden as Lydia Martin; and Colton Haynes as Jackson Whittemore.
MTV have posted a new poll asking fans what they think will happen to Lydia in season two. Be sure to cast your vote by clicking here.
Even though Peter Hale took a massive chunk out of Lydia during last week’s episode of “Teen Wolf,” he exhibited a softer side during tonight’s finale when he gave Stiles a chance to save her from bleeding to death (what a guy!). Stiles called Jackson just in time, too, because he was able to rush her from the lacrosse field to the hospital to get emergency care.
Everyone in Beacon Hills is hoping for Lydia’s speedy recovery, but we’re not so sure it’s going to end well for her. After sneaking into her room, Scott noticed that her bite marks didn’t heal the way they should have. Werewolves can fix themselves up almost immediately, so since Lyd’s lacerations were still open and inflamed, he was stumped as to what–if anything–she’ll turn into.
Do you think Lydia will become a werewolf despite Scott’s evaluation, or will she turn into an entirely new type of creature? Take the poll and give us your predictions!

The Insider’s Christina McLarty went jean shopping with two of Teen Wolf’s breakout stars Colton Haynes and Holland Roden, where they opened up about their personal style as well as the success of the hit MTV series, which has been picked up for a second season.
Colton, who plays jock Jackson Whittemore, shares that he’s currently into the darker jean colors (“the blacks and the greys”), and that contrary to popular belief, guys should not be afraid of “the skinny jeans”.
“I think skinny jeans are in now, especially more recently,” he says. “All I wear are skinny jeans when I go to events and everything, and I think that you shouldn’t be afraid to do that.”
And surprisingly, much like the phenomenon of “Twi-Moms” (mothers obsessed with the Twilight series), he notices that it’s the mothers who recognize him the most when he’s out in public.
“It’s great, I can’t go to water parks anymore, but that’s the downside,” he jokes.
As for Holland, who plays Lydia Martin, wearing jeans is actually a bit of a new thing for the petite actress.
“You know it’s funny I grew up in mostly skirts and dresses and blazers, I went to an all-girls school, so definitely was rocking the feminine look,” she explains. “But now I’m in Los Angeles and you gotta convert … I love it.”
She also finds fan encounters amusing, especially when viewers mistaken the good looking cast for the actual characters they play on the show.
“We hang out all the time and so it’s really funny when they see us together,” she smiles. “I was out with Dylan [O’Brien] at a movie the other day and two girls came up to us and they’re like ‘Lydia and Stiles, why are they together?!’,” she laughs. “We actually are friends, guys.”
